Ruth and David’s wedding was a lovely one to shoot at The George Hotel and I was delighted to receive a very warm, kind testimonial from them:

“Thanks to Phil for giving us some wonderful memories of our wedding.   Phil was excellent throughout the day, making sure neither of us were bothered by minor details regarding our photographs and helping to coordinate the larger groups and making sure we got all the shots we wanted.  He really captured some great moments throughout the day as well as some fab ‘posed’ photos.  Phil is so down to earth and calming and couldn’t recommend him highly enough. Thanks again Phil, for everything! David & Ruth :)”

tips for brides - 4: Book an Engagement Shoot

TIP 4 - : Book an Engagement Shoot

Think about booking an engagement shoot with your chosen photographer. I usually shoot these a month or two before the wedding at the venue itself.

I find that it helps everyone relax in front of the camera and builds a rapport amongst us, which is a great thing because on the wedding day it means you will be relaxed in my company and that way I will get very natural shots, which are always better than posed shots.

It can also be a long time between booking a photographer and seeing them on the wedding day, so this helps break that gap too.

Finally, not only do you get some lovely shots of you as a couple, but you can opt to have a photo with a large mount present at your reception for all your guests to sign. When I see these fill up with messages from family and friends over the night it hits home how personal and special a memento this is.

Some of my wedding packages include an engagement shoot in the overall price, with the mounted photo only £60 extra. See my website page here for current package prices:

Yikes, I’ve already thought of two more amazing tips! I’m tempted to put them all up right now, but all in good time!
